For all the crap you hear about Cornish chickens, I am pleasantly surprised by how active these chicks are. They’re very curious as well, if easily startled, as befits a small, tasty prey animal. I expect they’ll slow down as they age. In a couple of days I’m going to start restricting their food access time though, as I understand they will eat themselves to death if given the opportunity. During the off-time I plan to scatter some small amount of feed around the coop so they can get a snack if they’re willing to work for it. Hopefully it will get them scratching up the bedding for me.

The sheer quantity of poop produced is astonishing. My compost pile is happy though.
